Heartspace Art Leads the Way as Grand Marshals of the Pride Parade

We’re beyond thrilled to announce that Heartspace Art has the incredible honor of serving as grand marshals in this year’s Pride Parade! As advocates for love, inclusion, and diversity, being recognized in this way holds profound meaning for us, and it's a testament to our ongoing commitment to allyship and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

The Pride Parade is set for this coming Sunday (9/29), and it kicks off at 2pm, a moment we’re eagerly awaiting to celebrate alongside our vibrant and resilient community. As grand marshals, we will lead the way, carrying a message of hope, unity, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe and supported, no matter who they love.

This recognition is even more special because of our involvement in the creation of the rainbow crosswalks in Five Points. Commissioned by Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) and supported by Council member Jimmy Peluso and The AIDS Memorial Project of Northeast Florida, the crosswalks stand as a symbol of the neighborhood’s commitment to inclusivity. Every step taken on those colorful paths reflects the deep-seated belief that our community thrives through its diversity.

A significant source of our inspiration comes from our son, whose courage to be authentically himself within the LGBTQ community continually drives our work for equality. His bravery, strength, and pride in who he is remind us every day of the importance of standing up for those whose voices deserve to be heard and celebrated. His journey empowers us to create spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and loved for exactly who they are.

Being recognized as allies is an honor that we do not take lightly. It inspires us to continue fostering spaces for art, love, and inclusivity to flourish, whether through large-scale murals, community projects, or collaborative efforts like the Pride Parade. This journey has been nothing short of heartwarming, and we cannot wait to celebrate with everyone at the parade.
